POSITION: Director of Facilities Management and Construction
DEPARTMENT: Great Hearts Texas District Office
LOCATION: San Antonio or Dallas Home Office
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Operations-Texas
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
Position Summary
Under the direction and leadership of the Vice President of Operations-Texas, the Director of Facilities Management and Construction has the overall responsibility for operations, maintenance of Campuses and home office buildings. Responsibilities include the supervision of facilities technicians, coordinating/directing maintenance, and repairs of all Great Hearts buildings.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Directs activities of Facilities Management/Construction: Budget preparation & control; Record keeping and personnel management.
- Supervise department staff as assigned and perform annual staff evaluations.
- Travel to multiple campuses to review work and assist as needed on special projects.
- Assure quality service and promote teamwork.
- Directs activities to include preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment, parking lots and grounds in a state of proper repair.
- Monitor/assist contractors and outside vendors’ performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications. Solicit bids and quotes from vendors.
- Assist in budget development regarding CapEx, school maintenance, and repairs.
- Assist with maintaining building safety and security policies & procedures. Immediately respond to building emergencies as needed.
- Perform routine quality control inspections of janitorial and landscaping subcontractors to ensure property is being maintained.
- Ensure documentation for emergency equipment (monthly/annually and/or as needed) is being maintained and accurate.
- Coordinate and monitor fire/life safety annual inspections, including all other system, building, and compliance inspections. Have working knowledge of alarm systems for drills and maintenance purposes.
- Perform duties as assigned. Attend department meetings as scheduled.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) or equivalent
- 10 years of Facilities/Construction experience
- 5 years of Supervisory experience
- Be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
