TECHNICIAN PROGRAM DATES

The  program  will  begin Tuesday,  June  2,   2026 and conclude Friday,  July  24,  2026. Other dates of interest include:

February 16 Applications accepted for the Summer Nurse Technician Program

May 17 Application Deadline

June 2 Hospital Orientation

June 3-5 Nurse Tech Orientation

June 8-July 24 Clinical Rotations

The  Summer  Nurse Tech   Program  at Memorial  Health  is an 8-week  program designed  to  introduce  you  to  the  main

segments  of  the  hospital  setting. This  program  allows  students to  experience  the  continuity  of  patient  care,  the  realities  of

full-time employment, and day-to-day staffing patterns.

In addition to being introduced to these areas, you will be asked to participate on the night shift. Your introduction to the realities of nursing will allow you to gather the experience necessary for quality career placement.

An experienced RN preceptor will provide professional guidance throughout the program, in addition to weekly and other scheduled activities.

 

 

JOB DUTIES

Those participating in the Nurse Tech Program will have the following job duties:

    Provide patient treatments

    Monitor patient status

    Assist with patient activities

    Participate in patient nutrition

    Assist with patient personal hygiene

    Assist RN with patient IVs

 

 

DEFINITION:

Develop and implement total nursing care for patients by collecting data, nursing diagnosis,  provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.  Develop system to provide care to a population including infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

 

EDUCATION:

A nursing student or a recent graduate of a nursing education program may be employed as a Nurse Technician.  The curriculum must include fundamentals in Nursing Care

 

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):

As required by the State Board of Nursing.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience, school attendance record and performance record may be considered.
