Position Purpose: Responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all types of wire pulling and stringing equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, and vehicles used for electrical construction projects throughout the Midwest.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect and repair diesel engines, gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, compressors, generators, suspensions, brakes, transmissions, fuel injection systems, ignition systems and air tools
  • Replace and repair damaged components
  • Perform engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, oil changes and maintenance checks and all equipment
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repairing all types of heavy equipment, trailers, aerial lift platforms, bulldozer, bucket trucks
  • Annual DOT and Crane Inspections
  • Perform vehicle preventative maintenance
  • Extensive travel required

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

  • 2-4 years experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment (wheeled and tracked) or trucks
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and diagrams
  • Strong welding (Stick/MIG) and fabrication skills
  • Must possess a valid class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Basic understanding of DOT Regulations
  • Basic understanding of iPhones, iPads and computers
  • Good organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout a geographical area
  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment
  • Customer service skills

Qualifications

  • High School graduate.
  • Must possess a valid class A Commercial Drive License (CDL) or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and provide mechanical oversight to equipment on numerous projects throughout the region.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to remain standing approximately 75% of the time
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
