Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International, Inc. (ATL) has partnered with Navarro Research and Engineering, inc. to form Hanford Laboratories and Management Integration (HLMI).  We are seeking applicants for one open Research & Technology Development Manager position for the 222-S Laboratory, a DOE facility specializing in the analysis of highly radioactive samples. Work location is in the  200W Area of the Hanford Site near Richland, WA.

Responsibilities:

The Research & Technology Development Manager leads a staff of scientists and chemical technologists, who are primarily baseline funded, in the performance of special analytical testing on a wide array of Hanford Site materials and chemical processes. This job position is accountable to the Analytical Operations Manager.  Work scope includes, but is not limited to: waste treatment process development and testing, corrosion chemistry studies, solid-phase characterization, and development of new analytical testing methods.

As the group Manager, under minimal managerial oversight, you will:

• Promote a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the HLMI mission, vision, and values
• Mentor, train, coach, and counsel staff in the effective development and delivery of assigned programs, projects, and deliverables
• Provide leadership, vision, and motivation in directing organization’s activities
• Apply resources to address site waste storage and process treatment challenges
• Collaborate with other Hanford contractor technical groups and National Laboratories to understand and support these technical challenges
• Interface with clients at all levels to maintain clear and constant communication
• Plan projects and provide routine project status, ensuring on-time project delivery
• Ensure analytical testing equipment remains operational, procure new equipment
• Provide technical document review and approval, ensuring the highest scientific standards and product quality
• Ensure safety principles are incorporated into group activities and followed

In addition to working with the HLMI management team, the candidate will interface with chemists, engineers, DOE, and the public.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of a BS in Chemistry or related discipline and 15 years of analytical laboratory and/or research experience
• Unwavering ethics

• Candidate will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office programs (particularly

Word and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced scientific degree
• Demonstrated success leading laboratory/Research teams
• Knowledge/experience in a nuclear facility
