Location: Central and West Africa Regional Office, Dakar, Senegal

Employment Status: Term employment**, Locally Engaged Staff (LES) Level 9  
(Annual gross salary scale in CFA: 32,440,231 - 47,504,476)

You have: 

  • A master’s degree in the social sciences, communications, or journalism with relevant experience in international development research, public policy development, knowledge translation and / or communications.  
  • Proficiency in English and French (reading, writing, and speaking). Fluency in Wolof or another African language is an asset. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the field of knowledge sharing, strategic communications, stakeholders’ engagement, international development, public policy development and/or research management. 
  • An in-depth understanding of knowledge translation for uptake and use, also referred to as research-to-policy. 
  • An enhanced knowledge of strategic communications and public relations. 

You are:

  • Able to work effectively in a team with other stakeholders while showing an innovative and enterprising spirit.  

You are interested in:

  • Promoting the Centre’s knowledge sharing objectives, through strategic positioning and knowledge translation for uptake and use, and the communications objectives in Central and West Africa.
  • Providing analysis to discern regional trends, identify, and analyze programming issues related to strategic positioning, knowledge translation and communications.
  • Supporting and contributing to various activities to implement the strategic positioning, knowledge translation and communications strategies for the region.
  • Contributing to identify and support key regional stakeholders and events that are strategic from a visibility and knowledge sharing perspective for IDRC to develop appropriate engagement strategies. 
  • Supporting the internal communications of IDRC initiatives, approaches, and priorities. 
  • Administering selected exploratory research projects addressing critical issues in Central and West Africa.  
  • Joining an organization that values and models diversity, inclusion, and equity.
