Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant / Office Receptionist is primarily responsible for providing support to the clinical providers by facilitating patient flow, assisting with various patient care activities, and performing related administrative and clerical functions. The Medical Assistant / Office Receptionist organizes and performs services, including collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the EHR for the physicians’ review, scheduling of appointments and procedures, complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-authorizations and basic registration and updating of demographics.
Licensure:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) preferred
- Current BLS card (American Heart Association provider)
- Current CA Phlebotomy Certificate preferred
Education:
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) or more years recent experience working in a medical office
- 2 years’ experience working in Primary Care setting preferred
- 2 years of EHR experience highly preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent communication skills; customer focused; excellent attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment
- Exceptional customer service skills required
- Computer skills
Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:
- Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
- Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
- Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
