
Job Summary
The Director of Quality and Patient Safety will be the organization’s Patient Safety Officer and will be responsible for the strategic oversight and implementation of an effective Quality and Patient Safety program that will detect and prevent potential quality of care and patient safety issues, provide for prompt reporting of quality and safety issues and effectively take appropriate action. This position will oversee the daily operations of the Quality and Patient Safety programs, including incident review processes, root cause analyses, and evaluating effectiveness of process changes. This leader will inform, advise and make recommendations to hospital leadership about quality & patient safety matters. He/She will collaborate closely with Medical Staff leadership in creating a comprehensive approach to program and system design. Required reporting to external agencies and oversight of program-related databases and IT systems are essential responsibilities of this position. Oversight of regulatory and accreditation issues is the final area of responsibility. The Director will ensure the hospital is in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements of various external agencies and will oversee ongoing efforts to ensure “always readiness.” The Director will be responsible for the management of program personnel and fiscal and material resources. He/She will support staff development and continuous program and process improvement. They will be a role model for the Henry Mayo Way of patient, employee, partner and community engagement.
