Network Software Engineer Job Description:
 

Integrate both the physical and virtual network for systems and subsystems for the United States Navy. Performs network design and analysis tasks for real-time systems for Navy Submarine, Surveillance, Surface Ship, and Aviation programs. The ideal candidate will actively participate in all phases of network development to include high level design, detailed design, development, and integration and test, while ensuring adherence to requirements for a variety of network protocol standards. The position requires the application of the principles and techniques of network engineering. Success in this position requires an assertive, confident attitude and a commitment to working as part of a team to meet critical delivery schedules. At a minimum, the candidate must have a DoD Secret level security clearance:
 

Network Software Engineer Required Tasks:

 

·        Provides insight to team and supports development and advancement of Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.

·        Develops and integrate network for a variety of network protocol standards including TCP/IP, HSRP/VRRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, RSTP (802.1w), MSTP (802.1s), DHCP, 802.1q tagging, multicast, PAgP or LACP (etherchannel), QoS and Active-Active technologies (vPC and IRF).

·        Analyze VLANs, spanning-tree, routing (static and dynamically implemented protocols), ACLs, IP addressing and subnetting.

·        Utilize WireShark, Sniffer, and other tools to isolate problems.

·        Develop software test tools to aid in troubleshooting and problem localization.

·        Performs software integration in a laboratory environment.

·        Follows direction of software team leads.

·        Work collaboratively in an open environment with engineers across many disciplines.

Network Software Engineer Highly Desirable Skills:

 

·        Strong LINUX/UNIX command line and scripting.

·        Familiarity with Cisco, Arista and HP products.

·        Familiarity with 1/10/25 Gig protocols, serial and satellite links, cable standards, and optical specifications/requirements.

·        Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN).

·        Experience with Ansible, VxLAN, OVS, Linux Bridging and SR-IOV.

·        Familiarity with Docker, Virtualization, and Containerization.

Network Software Engineer Additional Requirements:

 

·       B.S. in Network Engineering, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience and two to five year’s professional experience.

·       Must be able to obtain and keep a DoD Secret Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen.

·       Willingness to work overtime and off shift when dictated to support business needs.

·       Task driven with ability to work independently.

·       Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships with the team members which fosters team success.

Job: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week
