JOB SPECIFICATION

POSITION: 2024-2025 Faculty – GH Christos

DEPARTMENT: GH Christos – Instructional

LOCATION: Phoenix, Arizona

REPORTS TO: GH Christos Headmaster

FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-time

Great Hearts Christos employees are expected to model Christian charity and piety and conduct themselves in a way that confirms their testimony as a believing Christian.  A Christian calling should reflect the biblical perspectives of integrity and appropriate personal and familial relationships, business conduct, and moral behavior.  They affirm the Great Hearts Christos statement of faith, live the statement of faith in their personal and professional lives, and are examples of the mission and vison of the organization within and outside the classroom.

Great Hearts Christos will be looking to hire for the following roles:

Christos Gilbert:

  • Math/Science Teachers  5th-6th
  • ELA/History Teachers  5th-6th
  • Teaching Apprentice or Teaching Assistant Teachers (K-4)

Christos Phoenix:

  • 6th Grade Lead Teacher
  • Teaching Apprentice or Teaching Assistant Teacher (4-6)

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Teachers are the most important daily leaders and shapers of intellectual, ethical, and spiritual culture on our campuses. Every teacher is a role model and must always act and speak as one.

Responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create a classroom environment that will feel safe for all students to learn and reach their fullest potential.
  • Create thoughtful and well-planned lessons while adhering to the curriculum.
  • Maintain orderly classrooms.
  • Provide timely and meaningful evaluation/correction of student work.
  • Engage students utilizing the Socratic method.
  • Lead students through intelligence, charisma, humor, moral integrity, and example.
  • Fully embrace the school's vision of community, of learning, and of leadership.
  • Perform additional assigned campus duties.
  • Read, know, and support the philosophy, policies, procedures and other pertinent data of the school as published in the Faculty Handbook and most current Family Handbook.
  • Follow school policies and procedures for ensuring the safety and security of students on campus.
  • Provide reasonable assistance to those students in need of individual help and assists students to make-up work after approved absences.
  • Communicates regularly and as needed with parents, initiating parent-teacher conferences and responds to parental inquiries by the end of the next school day.
  • Attend Open Houses, special school events (such as concerts, plays and special presentations) and certain staff meetings designated as All Faculty Meetings.
  • Attend all Great Hearts professional development opportunities, including New Faculty Orientation and the Summit.
  • Support and enforce the school dress and behavior codes and make reasonable efforts to promote the orderly behavior of all students in the school, on the grounds, and at off-campus school activities.
  • Keep accurate records and make reports as required.
  • Evaluate and document the student’s day-to-day work, prepare the quarter report and prepare and participate in the formal semester evaluation and conference.
  • Attend and participate in review meetings with the Headmaster.
  • Participate in faculty development on early release days.
  • Is an active member of the community of learners, continuing to pursue his or her own professional growth and development.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.

Qualifications, Competencies, and Strengths

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Certifications: Certification is not required to teach at any of the Great Hearts Academies. Great Hearts teachers, whether certified or not, demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts, knowledge of the content area which they will teach, and the capacity to instill knowledge and cultivate virtue in children.

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to the philosophy and mission of Great Hearts Christos, including, without limitation, publicly supporting the mission and committing to instilling Christian beliefs in Great Hearts Christos scholars.

Additional Requirements

·         Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.

·         Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
