JOB SPECIFICATION

Position: Math & Reading Interventionist

Reports to: Headmaster/Regional Coordinator

Dept. /School: Special Student Services-Assigned Campus; Great Hearts Texas

EEO Classification: Professional

FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-time

 

Primary Purpose: 
Plan and deliver instruction to students identified as at-risk, in small group or one-on-one as needed. Provide students with appropriate intervention instruction, learning activities, and experiences in the areas of reading to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies to close educational gaps.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Understanding the needs of early literacy, oral language development, and struggling readers.
  • Knowledge of best practice strategies Ability to interpret data
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience as a classroom teacher

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional and Program Management

  • Utilize student data to help teachers identify and group students who need additional support.
  • Design intervention plans and monitor progress for students who are struggling.
  • Plan and deliver instruction to identified students in the classroom, in small group or one-on-one as needed to help students meet learning goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records of student work and progress toward mastery of skills
    identified in intervention plan.
  • Maintain open and consistent communication about student progress, concerns and achievement with families and the school community.
  • Consult with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for addressing the needs of students.
  • Serve as a resource for classroom teachers with strategies, plans and materials.
  • Participate in district and campus trainings.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local policy.

Additional Requirements:  

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.  

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.  

Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the metro area.
