POSITION: ESS Research Assistant – Temporary Assignment


DEPARTMENT: Exceptional Student Services (ESS)                               

LOCATION: Great Hearts Home Office                                           

REPORTS TO: National Director of ESS

FLSA STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly, $12.15-$14/hour

Position Summary

The primary goal of the Research Assistant for the Social Challenges Screening Project is to assist in a limited study on parent engagement in the screening process.

The research assistant’s primary duties will be to contact parents of students who were part of the study in 19-20 and interview them about their decision-making when offered a free clinical evaluation after their child was flagged by the screening tool, and why they did or did not proceed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Become acquainted with the project goals and purpose
  • Coordinate with SARRC research lead, Great Hearts Project Manager, GH Director of ESS
  • Contact parents through a variety of modes to assess their interest in participating in an interview
  • Conduct interviews
  • Note, code, and track interview data
  • Other similar tasks and duties may arise throughout the year.

Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths

  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to build relationships
  • Humble and open to feedback and collaboration
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, takes initiative to solve problems
  • Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc.
  • Achievement-oriented, have a great deal of stamina to work hard and take satisfaction from being productive.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Autism and inclusive environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)

Licenses or certifications

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
