REPORTS TO: Department Manager   

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part-time/Temporary ($12.15 - $15.00/Hour)

Position Summary

The Great Hearts Intern is a part-time and temporary role that contributes to supporting various Home Office departments during some of our busiest and exciting times of the year. The Intern will assist departments with major projects and/or events. Many of the duties will require one who is knowledgeable in: administrative support, planning and executing, researching, tracking and updating, performing data entry, and collaborating with others. While the Intern role is part-time/temporary, hours may extend during certain weeks depending on activities being coordinated at the Home Office. Occasional evening hours may be required. The Intern role should involve one who is eager to learn, adapts quickly, communicates well and is detail oriented.


Duties & Responsibilities


The Home Office of Great Hearts is reviewing applications for an intern to work primarily with the Professional Development department (supporting other departments is a possibility). 


Intern may do a range of tasks, including the following:

  • Co-manage a shared inbox, assisting with common inquiries and providing excellent customer service
  • Perform digital filing/record-keeping, database creation and management, and reporting
  • Assist with LMS account management tasks
  • Draft, edit, or proofread documents and communications
  • Moderate discussion boards for New Faculty onboarding
  • Perform minor webpage creation, review, evaluation, and editing (content management)


Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in an associates or undergraduate degree program is preferred.

Special Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
  • Fast learner and adapts quickly
  • Creative problem-solving skills 
  • Well-organized, thorough, and efficient
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills 
  • Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills
  • Available approx. 25-40 hours/week from May-July




Additional Requirements

Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Level fingerprint clearance card.


Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 25 pounds approximately.


Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
