FLSA: Exempt, $40,000 annual salary

Great Hearts is a nonprofit network of public charter schools dedicated to improving education nationwide through classical preparatory K–12 academies. A Great Hearts education prepares students to be more than just proficient test takers; rather, it prepares them to become great-hearted and virtuous leaders capable of success throughout their higher education and professional careers. With a curriculum built upon a character-centered, classical liberal arts tradition and a revolutionary approach to school itself, Great Hearts cultivates the hearts and minds of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Great Hearts serves over 20,000 students in both Texas and Arizona.

On January 4th, 2021, Great Hearts launched a new virtual classical academy to serve students in Texas. Great Hearts Online is fully enrolled to the delight and satisfaction of over 500 students and their families. For the 2021-2022 school year, Great Hearts Online intends to serve grades K - 8 in Arizona and in Texas, pending legislative approval.

Great Hearts Online is the core educational offering, and we are thinking bigger. In Latin, civitas is a word describing a body of citizens who constitute a state or a commonwealth; a civitas is a body of people imparting shared responsibility, a common purpose, and a sense of community toward greater citizenship. What we are building is a Great Hearts Civitas: a national body of families and students, connected by a common purpose, in community and citizenship together. In the coming years, we will offer excellence in virtual classical education with a focus on tight-knit online and in-person communities in pursuit of a national GH Civitas.

Position Summary

Effective immediately, Great Hearts Online - Arizona is seeking a full time Family Success Coordinator (FSC). The right individual will successfully guide interested families through the enrollment process and continue to be the point-person for families’ needs during their time with Great Hearts Online - AZ. The ideal candidate is expert at building relationships, communicating clearly and effectively, and telling the Great Hearts story. The right person is also skilled at problem solving, connecting individuals to needed resources, and comes with technical and detail-oriented prowess. 

The Family Success Coordinator will report to Juanita Flores who will become the Senior Family Success Coordinator of Great Hearts Civitas, supporting and overseeing our Great Hearts Online academies in Texas and Arizona in ’21-22 and preparing for continued growth in ’22-23. Ms. Flores served as the founding registrar for Great Hearts Western Hills in San Antonio and now as the founding Registrar for Great Hearts Online.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Family Success Coordinator will have roles and responsibilities aligned to the below. The individual will need to balance family engagement and relationship building with technical and detailed excellence related to communications and enrollment systems.

  • Outreach & Marketing: Be the key point of contact for prospective families interested in attending Great Hearts Online - Arizona, engaging with families via phone, email and social media platforms
  • Enrollment: Realize strong enrollment goals for the state
  • Enrollment: Be administrator for the enrollment process and system (currently Canopy), following up with families who have begun but not completed the resignation process
  • Onboarding: Lead the onboarding of families, ensuring they are prepared for first day of school and connected to all resources/departments they need
  • Liaison: Serve as chief facilitator and connector, matching families with the individual or resource they need for success at Great Hearts Online
  • Liaison: Build relationships with families to develop a robust online school community, working in tandem with other GH Online team members also involved in this work
  • Problem-Solver: Through relationships and in partnership with families, identify the major roadblocks to family success; work with parents to realize the right conditions for their scholar’s success and work with the academy to support parents in these endeavors
  • Retention: Retain families as they consider re-enrollment for future years
  • Communication & Marketing: Serve as key communicator for the school, supporting with drafting family communications, getting and sharing photos/videos/testimonials, being active on school’s social media platforms

Qualifications, Competencies, and Strengths

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 1 - 3 years of related experience
  • Fluency with technology: email, excel formulas, google drive, customer tracking systems, etc.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship building and taking people from interest to all-in on a product, service or idea
  • Knowledge of and passion for Great Hearts’ classical liberal arts curriculum
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred
  • Acumen with social media platforms
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; thrive in a fast-paced, remote work environment that is filled with change

Type of clearance:
Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card. Must possess or obtain a valid Texas Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance and background check.

Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 50 pounds approximately.
