SUMMARY:  The Operational Intern will gain a broad overview at our processing facility by hands on experience. A typical day will include: Guiding trucks into the tipping building safely, observing the material that is dumped out, and remove any contamination from the loads. The Intern will work with a variety of teams at the site such as the Thor loading zones (if applicable), Operators, and with the Ground Crew. You will work one on one with your mentor throughout your day. The Operational Intern’s program will last 6 weeks for a total of 88 hours.

$2500 Bonus for Education:

If the intern successfully completes the internship, including showing up on time, ready to work daily for the course of the internship (excused absences are okay), the intern will have the opportunity to earn a $2500 payment to the college or trade school of their choosing that is valid for up to six months after the completion of their internship. Please note that payment will be made directly to the trade school or college of the intern’s choosing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide trucks into the tipping building safely and observe the material being dumped out of them, watching for contamination.
  • Open and close the tipping building doors by depressing a switch.
  • Call Operators, when safe to do so, to push the contents of the building into piles.
  • Stay in communication with the office to confirm when vehicles will be arriving to the tipping building and answer any questions regarding vehicle contamination or loads.
  • Pull any contamination from loads.
  • Assist with other ground crew duties as needed including grinder clean-up and dumping collected contaminants.
  • Work one on one with your mentor in a variety of roles at the site

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • Be self-motivated to meet operational performance standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must interact with the public in a professional manner.
  • Must work as a team member.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to stand or walk for four or more hours per day, and frequently lift and carry objects up to 60 pounds.
