Job Title: Bagged Product Sales and Merchandiser (Sacramento, CA)

Summary:

The Bagged Product Sales and Merchandiser supports Cedar Grove Composting by providing sales representation to major box stores and retail business owners and buyers in strategic markets within the western United States. The primary role of this position has a flexible work schedule and is intended to increase bag sales and develop new bag lines and markets for the collective line of Cedar Grove products. They are also responsible for supporting marketing and training efforts with POS research and design for effective in-store reference information, signage as well as online support.

KEY INTERFACES:

  • Box store representatives
  • Business owners and managers in privately owned nursery, hardware, feed and lawn and garden supplies
  • Specialty business owners and managers supplying landscapers and maintenance companies

  • Director of Sales         

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have own reliable vehicle for business transportation purposes (Vehicle allowance is included).
  • Travel out of the state 20%-30% of the time (CA, NV). Travel costs will be included.
  • Represent Cedar Grove in a sales and business development capacity to expand revenues from current and future bagged products.
  • Cultivate new accounts in box stores, retail markets and other under-developed business sectors.
  • Research potential new products and present marketing and business plans and strategies to develop new, profitable lines within business sectors.
  • Work on costing plans to encompass production and distribution of bags.
  • Work with transportation group and logistics partners to maximize geographic coverage of bags throughout region.
  • Represent to companies within the government community and provide educational support to cities and counties.

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • 3+ years customer facing sales experience
  • Able to perform at advanced level in all MS office suite applications (excel, word, outlook, PowerPoint) 
  • Have experience with CRM tracking system (Salesforce preferred), sales pipeline, projections, merchandising at retail garden centers
  • Ability to communicate verbal and written and make compelling presentations at corporate buying and executive management level of organizations.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • BS or BA degree, preferably in marketing, agriculture, or business.

EXPERIENCE/OTHER: 

  • Experience in soil and organic fertilizer market development within western region a plus.
  • Fluency in speaking Spanish a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to actively interface with customers for up to 8 hrs per day, be able to sit and do essential follow-up computer work for up to 4 hrs per day, and frequently lift and carry objects up to 30-40 pounds.
