The Commissioning Engineer has extensive expertise as a generalist or specialist.  Provides solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. The Commissioning Engineer team is responsible for performing final testing, startup, and commissioning of electrical, mechanical, industrial controls, SCADA and building automation as well as other apparatus both in the field and in a manufacturing environment.  An understanding of sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems and associated test equipment and procedures is required. You will contribute to a safe working environment for co-workers and customers and help ensure the overall success of projects.  Local, regional, and national travel may be required.

Position Summary:

  1. Originates MEP Systems including electrical, mechanical equipment, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, EPMS, BMS, etc.) commissioning, inspection and testing deliverables and documents, including schedule
  2. Prepares technical reports related to specific design issues
  3. Uses available commissioning tools for efficient execution of project deliverables
  4. Participates in technical meeting with customer and engineering functional staff
  5. Assists in constructability reviews
  6. Small project field assignment
  7. Oversees execution of MEP Systems Commissioning inspection / testing activities on site
  8. Works with MEP Systems and associated electronic relays and other system components (SCADA, PLC) via manufacturer specific computer software
  9. Understands MEP system commissioning, inspection and testing requirements
  10. Understand commissioning terminology
  11. Basic understanding of industry codes and standards
  12. Understand basic cost and schedule considerations
  13. Familiar with the application of electrical equipment
  14. Credible automation knowledge
  15. Familiar with the mechanical, electrical, automation engineering web site and how to find department guides and standards
  16. Basic understanding of how CADD tools are to be used
  17. Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  18. Assists more experienced Commissioning specialist coordinating, and reviewing  deliverables
  19. Prepares and reviews simple electrical & Mechanical sketches, CX plans, and data sheets
  20. Performs simple routine electrical or mechanical calculations
  21. Assists in review of supplier documentation for compliance with specifications
  22. Uses the electrical engineering web site to access department guides and standards
  23. Basic knowledge of Commissioning, inspection and Testing of electrical components and system 
  24. Knowledge of basic electrical engineering theories
  25. Basic power system familiarity with MEP systems and associated technologies, test equipment, etc.
  26. Proficient with technical writing
  27. Knowledge of advance mathematics
  28. Basic awareness of industry codes and standards
  29. Good communications skills
  30. Willing to travel to customer sites periodically

Requirements:

2+ years of experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree.

  12. Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE)
  2. Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)
  3. Six Sigma Yellow Belt
  4. National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)  or equivalent

Abilities:

  1. Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  2. Sitting for extended periods of time.
  3. Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  4. Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
