We design, build, operate and maintain cyber-physical solutions for some of the nation’s most recognizable mission critical facilities, secure environment, complex infrastructure, and global enterprises.  We are comprised of the following divisions.

The position is located at our Modular Mission Critical (MMC) Manufacturing Facility located in Ruther Glen, VA which is an easy commute from Richmond and Fredericksburg, VA . Unlike traditional construction, work performed at MMC is executed indoors with no exposure to the elements. Employees can expect to work a to work a 40-hour work week; however, overtime and weekend work may be required from time to time due to project schedules and training.

PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS FOR A COMMUNICATIONS CABLING TECHNICIAN AND NOT A COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK TECHNICIAN.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is in a Manufacturing facility producing prefabricated assemblies, racks, equipment cabinets, rooms, and various kits for shipment to constructions sites for installation. The candidate must have experience with the installation, termination, and testing of Structured Cable Plant in commercial environments. The candidate should have a knowledge of BICSI guidelines for proper installation and termination procedures and the following:

  •         Installation of video, data, and low voltage cable within modular rooms and prefabricated panels
  •         Terminating, testing, and labeling multiple types of communications and other low voltage cables.
  •         Labeling and kitting communication and low voltage assemblies for installation on projects
  •         Read and understand plans and specifications.
  •         Installation of plywood and racks.
  •         Cut and package cable trays for TR, MDF, IDF for shipment to site.
  •         Pulling cable 100 pair or smaller unassisted.
  •         Installing prefab assembly unassisted.
  •         Participating in area cleanup.
  •         Maintaining clean work area.
  •         Use of splicing crimp tools and installation of Mechanical Lugs.
  •         Assisting with bonding all metallic portions.
  •         Troubleshoot and fix Cat 5, 5E and 6 cable problems.
  •         Terminate various manufacturers of copper termination blocks.
  •         Knowledge of all fiber termination connectors.
  •         Knowledge of all makes of fiber optics cable.
  •         Use various power tools including drills, saws, punch sets that are corded, cordless, and hydraulic.·

Experience:

  •         3 years prior experience in commercial communications industry with a high school diploma or GED.
  •         Prior experience in communications work including room build-out, Cat6, Cat6A and fiber optic termination, interpret and maintain drawing and as-builts. Test, troubleshoot, and repair copper and fiber optic cabling.
  •         Must have an excellent safety record, a valid driver's license, and clean driving record to meet corporate eligibility requirements to drive a company owned vehicle. 

Desired Skills:

  •         BICSI credentials to include Technician.
  •         Ability to acquire a US Security Clearance
  •         Manufacturer Certifications and/or Fiber Certification.
  •         Experience with Microsoft Office applications

Familiarity with:

    • Bluebeam
    • Fluke Versiv
    • MS Office Word and Excel

Abilities:

  •         Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  •         Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  •         Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  •         Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  •         Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  •         May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  •        Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  •        Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  •        Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  •        See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  •      Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
