  • The role of Fire Suppression Systems Technician 3 implies a high level of expertise and proficiency in servicing suppression gas systems, kitchen hood systems and portable fire extinguishers. This position involves leading complex service projects, complex suppression system programming, providing mentorship to junior technicians, and assuming a more autonomous role in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining fire suppression systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • ·        Lead and oversee comprehensive inspections, advanced testing, and troubleshooting of fire suppression systems, kitchen hoods, and portable fire extinguishers.
  • ·        Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in fire suppression systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with applicable NFPA codes.
  • ·        Install, service, and inspect kitchen hoods, fire extinguishers, and associated systems, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
  • ·        Manage detailed records of service activities, including detailed reports, system analyses, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • ·        Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and service delivery.
  • ·        Participate in project planning, system design, and implementation efforts to improve fire suppression system functionality and efficiency.
  • ·        Conduct site surveys to upgrade fire suppression and kitchen hood systems, develop bill of materials, labor projections, and project schedules.
  • ·        Lead fire suppression projects of various sizes and complexities, including pre-testing and final acceptance testing with Fire Marshal.
  • ·        Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and optimal system performance.
  • ·        Develop and maintain relationships with building owners, managers, and other customer representatives while upholding safety protocols and delivering exceptional service.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of high school degree and seven years of related experience or two years technology degree and five years related experience.
  • NICET special Hazards Systems Level II.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Position is subject to an additional customer background check.
  • This position will require up to 15% travel throughout the United States.

 Physical Requirements

  • Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Work overtime as directed by supervisor.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass random drug screening.
  • Must have valid driver's license, good driving records to operate a MC Dean vehicle as part of this job requirement.
  • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation to arrive on job sites which vary based on the customers' locations and schedules
