Position: Math Interventionist
Department/Location: Campus Special Education; Great Hearts Texas DFW and San Antonio
Reports to: Special Education Campus Coordinator
Supervisor: Campus Headmaster
FLSA STATUS: Exempt; Full-time
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
The Mathematics Interventionist is a highly qualified teacher of mathematics who:
- Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.
- Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics.
- Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculum
- Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction.
- Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of students
- Effectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
- Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district’s math content standards.
- Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.
- Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.
- Completes other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in math, education, or related field required
- 3 years of experience teaching students mathematics in a K-12 school setting
- Texas Teaching Certification
- Knowledge of Algebra I and Algebra II preferred
- Campus leadership and/or experience providing coaching/feedback preferred
- Proven track record of instructing diverse learners, including English Language Learners and Special Education students, in the area of mathematics.
- Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships
- Detailed-oriented with strong organization and time management skills

- Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.
- Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
- Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the metro area.
