Guard I

Overview:

Perform full range of duties and enforcing regulations designed to prevent breaches of security. Exercises judgment and use discretion in dealing with whether first response should be to intervene directly (asking for assistance when deemed necessary and time allows), to keep situation under surveillance, or to report situation so that it can be handled by appropriate authority. Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting security areas.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Stand on post to perform Manifest Checker or Access Control Points
  • Physically registers all vehicles entering the compound and inspect the driver and passenger (s) identification badges prior to granting vehicle access to the compound.
  • Directs all vehicles without proper documentation and identification badge to primary customer service facility.
  • Directs all pedestrian traffic to primary customer service facility.
  • Performs random inspection of manifest documents indicating incoming personnel, commercial and government, have documentation to support their need for entry to the designated compounds.
  • Document random inspections shall be kept in Contractor records and will be provided to the Government upon request.
  • Performs random inspection of manifests of transported materiel exiting the compound.
  • Reports any unusual activities, incidents, problems or emergency situations to Government Security Specialist or designee.
  • Cooperates with the Security Specialist, Emergency Responders, and Base Security Officers/Command Duty Officer or representative in matters pertaining to security or emergency situations.
  • Maintains a Vehicle Register Log of all vehicles entering and exiting the compound.
  • Maintain vehicle registry and make logs available for inspection as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting controlled areas.
  • Determine whether to intervene directly, ask for assistance as time permits, keep situation under control or surveillance, or to report incident or situation to the appropriate authority for handling.
  • Training and experience in security patrol techniques and emergency communications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds and be in good health.

Work Environment:

General security sentry. This position is specialized shifts. Some travel required between sites based on business demands.
