Construction Superintendent
Overview:
FPM Remediations, Inc. is seeking a Construction Superintendent for its Lubbock, Texas field office to oversee and direct environmental construction projects. The Construction Superintendent will provide primary onsite management of projects, subcontractors and employees, and report to the Project Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with 5+ years of relevant construction experience to join an organization of dedicated and knowledgeable environmental professionals.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Tracks on-site labor hours, maintains construction project schedule, evaluates the quantity of materials, equipment, and human resources required.
- Works closely with the Project Manager to communicate changing requirements, scheduling, subcontractor issues, and any other issues that arise during construction.
- Responsible for oversight of installation project safety compliance, bringing problems to the attention of the Project Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer.
- Directly supervises and coordinates all field activities of assigned mid to large scale construction projects.
- Schedules and coordinates field activities, supervising project crews to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, morale, and communication.
- Recognizes and communicates site conditions that potentially impact quality, cost, and/or schedule.
- Works closely with the Contractor Quality Control Officer and Site Safety Health Officer to ensure project success.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Coordinates and directs workers engaged in construction activities.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with emphasis in superintendence involving mid to large scale construction projects. Experience at Department of Defense sites is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a technical or engineering discipline, but extensive experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- Experience and training must include understanding of construction methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment. Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills are required.
- Basic knowledge of administration and management.
- Must have the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong—to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
- Must be able to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with project stakeholders and fellow employees
- Basic ability to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
- Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to positively interact with colleagues, client and subcontractors to achieve mutual goals.

Must be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered investigation

Field work is performed in on various outdoor terrain and regularly requires the ability to navigate uneven ground or other obstacles found in natural surroundings.
Work Environment:
Aside from the initial assignment in the vicinity of Lubbock, TX in 2024-2025, the position will require extensive travel to various field locations (>80% travel), primarily to support FPM projects in Texas and New Mexico, and other locations in the U.S. as needed. Fieldwork involves performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically five (5) 10-hour days per week).
Work is regularly performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including snow, rain, sleet, extreme winds, or ice storms. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, hot and cold, as part of environmental factors. Work may be performed near moving mechanical parts and/or vibration. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles or electrical shock hazards.
Pay Range & Benefit:
75-110K
