Pay Range: CDI EDUCATOR - $47.98 to $76.76

Job Summary

The CDI Educator works with CDI program leadership to plan, develop, and implement education programs for CDI Specialists, Coders, and Providers. Educates members of the CDI team on the review functions within the CDI program in order to meet and maintain organizational goals, regulatory compliance, policies and procedures, and personnel management.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Active CCDS certification or Active CDIP
  • Medical doctor license outside/inside the U.S., or
  • Active Physician Assistant (PA) License, or
  • Active RN license in the state of California

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Equivalent

Experience:

  • Three (3) years Acute hospital experience in critical care or medical/surgical area required
  • Five (5) years of CDI experience required
  • Three (3) years experience providing training
  • Three (3) years leadership experience or equivalent

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Documentation training in ICD-10
  • Experience formulating and presenting education
  • Experience in team building
  • Proficient clinical assessment skills
  • Thorough understanding of coding guidelines and physician documentation impact
  • Working knowledge of MS-DRG, and APR-DRG
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Skills in building and maintaining strategic working relationships, building trust, and organization and initiative
  • Strong customer service skills and adaptability
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills  

Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

  • Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
  • Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
  • Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
