Job Summary
Responsible for supervising, coordinating and correlating the activities of nursing and ancillary services during the shift on behalf of administrators and department directors in their absence. Coordinates patient admissions/transfers, staffs the inpatient units, ED and makes all necessary or emergent decisions and/or decisions which affect the delivery of patient care. Fosters an environment of open communication by providing direction and guidance to all staff and acts as a mentor/advisor/negotiator when needed.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current CA RN License
- Current BLS / ACLS provider card
- PALS within 6 months of hire date
- Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) within 6 months of hire date
Education:
- BSN required, MSN preferred
- Leadership training or comparable experience
Experience:
- Five (5) years current nursing experience in acute care setting including (1) year charge nurse experience and/or two years current experience as an administrative nursing supervisor. Two years management/supervisory experience preferred – may include one (1) year charge nurse experience
Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Patient Care:
- Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
- Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
- Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
