Pay Range: PATIENT PLACEMENT COORD - $24.63 to $39.41

Job Summary

The PPC is responsible for expediting patient admissions from all avenues (ER, Direct Admits, PACU, Cath Lab, etc.) as well as inpatient transfers in a timely manner focusing on the Patient Throughput targets.  The PPC will have the ability to coordinate with the Administrative Supervisor to screen for Level of Care appropriateness and any special requirements around the bed requests (i.e. Isolation, Custody, Dialysis, etc.)  Serves as point person for patient placement with a goal to centralize patient flow with the Administrative Supervisor.

Licensure and Certification:

  • NA

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Satisfactory completion of at least 1 semester of Nursing School required,  to include Nursing Assessment course
  • One year of recent (within the last 6 months) clinical experience can be used in lieu of Nursing School requirement

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year clinical experience
  • Understanding in Interqual admission criteria and has computer skills to enter information into the various required electronic databases.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with customer service and team approach to daily work activities.
  • Organizational and time management skills required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Kronos, Meditech and Utilization Review preferred.

Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:

  • Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
  • Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
  • Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
