The HR Business Partner is a strategic planner, effective in workforce planning to ensure the company’s workforce has the right size, shape, cost and agility for the future. This HRBP is skilled in succession planning, supporting Headmasters and other leaders with identifying, assessing, developing, and retaining key talent to ensure there are no gaps in critical roles. The HRBP is an advisor and consultant, aimed at empowering leaders to handle people matters. Guided by policy and procedures, while still realizing all individuals and situations can be unique, the HRBP problem solves and minimizes risk by guiding outcomes of employee relations matters.
The HR Partner role partners directly with leaders to support the unique needs of each academy. Beyond partnering with the academy, this role works closely with other People Teams (Professional Development, Compensation and Benefits, People Operations and Recruiting) to help develop and implement People solutions that serve their academies, as well as the broader Great Hearts network. The HR Partner must be highly motivated, have strong analytical skills and be able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. This role supports multiple Great Hearts campuses in the Phoenix area. The expectation is that the HR Partner sits onsite at their academies 3 to 4 times per week.
Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate workforce Planning for assigned schools this includes staff/faculty openings and support annual and mid-year workforce planning.
Act as key consultant and partner for school leaders regarding staff management at the site, including performance management, compensation, employee engagement, training and development, and succession planning.
Be up to date on employment laws and regulations in your school’s state, as well as Great Hearts policies and procedures; provide guidance on creation and implementation of HR process and policies.
Champion a positive culture and model the way for all staff and leaders, delivering on our core purposes of Passion, Team Player, and Servant’s Heart; work together with leadership and staff to solve conflicts, maintain a good working environment, build morale, and decrease turnover.
Build and maintain a deep understanding of each academy’s goals and rhythms, identify strengths and opportunities and define paths for continued improvements.
Attract and retain Talent by collaborating with Talent Partners as they implement innovating recruitment strategies. Assist in development of compensation strategies.
Serve as point of contact to connect Heads of School to and facilitate People Team annual processes.
Implement Great Hearts-wide People initiatives at individual academies.
Act as the point of contact for employee relations issues to include conducting investigations.
Ensure compliance with federal and local laws and regulations.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Competencies & Strengths
Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources or other related field strongly preferred.
License and Certifications: PHR/SPHR or SHRM Certification preferred, not required.
Experience: Must have 3+ years of general Human Resources experience required. Strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills, experience with UltiPro, Adobe Acrobat, and Taleo preferred.
Additional Requirements
Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card.
May also be required to complete fingerprints as required by the assigned academies’ state department of education.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Travel required: Will need to travel up to 60% to 80% of the time to assigned academies and PHX home office
