In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.  Employees at the academy level must be eligible to work for the entirety of the academic year (August of this year through July of the following year).  Academies at Great Hearts generally do not sponsor visas since their fiscal and administrative resources are not sufficient enough to do so. Some academies may elect to hire individuals on an OPT visa, but arrangements will be made on a case by case basis at the time an offer is made.

Are you eligible to work in the United States currently (without the need for employer sponsorship)?

The issuance of a Fingerprint Clearance Card or completion of a Fingerprint Check is a condition of employment depending on job classification within Great Hearts Academies (as required by State Law), and this involves a search of State of Arizona/Texas and FBI National criminal record databases.

Do you currently hold an active, valid Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the State of Arizona or Texas? (Please attach a copy of the card if desired).

Do you believe that it is the place of a public school to be involved in the moral education of students with universal ideas of right and wrong?

Evaluate the following statement:

Truth is relative. An individual’s culture and unique life experience form their version of the truth, and we should accept each other's definitions of truth as equally valid.

Evaluate the following statement:

Even in the world of advancing technology, it is NOT essential to teach technology to students as a main focus of their courses. Time is better spent elsewhere.

Evaluate the following statement:

We should be preparing our students for real jobs in the world; incorporating career-specific and/or vocational training as part of our curriculum is essential.

Which statement would you tend to agree with more?
            a. Art is defined by the subjective intention of the artist and the subjective experience of the viewer. “Beauty” is exclusively in the eye of the beholder.
            b. The perennial/classical canons of beauty and form have lasting validity and provide a sound basis for objectively judging works of art.

How important or appropriate is it for teachers and students to bring current political/social events and issues, pop culture references, and other modern experiences into the classroom in order to connect to the material being presented? (Please choose the statement with which you agree more).

a. Contemporary events and culture are a distraction from the work of teaching and learning and should be kept out of the classroom.

b. It is the responsibility of the teacher to make learning relevant for students through contemporary/popular references or comparisons.

Which statement would you tend to agree with more?

a. In the globalized world of the 21st century, students must receive an education with a balanced focus on understanding and appreciating different cultures; an exclusive look at Western culture is outmoded and hegemonic.

b. An education focused primarily on the great ideas and history of Western culture provides a better foundation for contemporary American students than a more superficial survey of various world cultures. It makes sense to focus on understanding our own traditions first and then expand our focus as life-long learners.

Evaluate the following statement:

Students should never be corrected in their personal opinions – this would serve to dampen their personal creativity and confidence in themselves.

Which statement would you tend to agree with more?

a. While some attention should be given to the different learning modes of students, the classroom should have a primary focus on the traditional learning modes of reading, writing, problem-solving, and speaking.

b. Strong attention to each of the varied intelligences (e.g. kinesthetic, visual, emotional) is an essential part of every lesson. Too much focus on the spoken or written word is a disservice to students.
