Electrical Estimators factor all potential costs involved with any Walker Engineering projects such as; labor, materials, location, how long the job will last and any special requirements that might be needed. Some projects may or may not include projections on cost of overhead, insurance, taxes, subcontractors and even how the weather and time of the year may affect the work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May attend pre-bid meetings or job interviews as required.
  • Evaluates bid documents to determine overall scope of project.
  • Determines all documentation required for bid submittal; determines who should review or contribute information necessary to complete bid (i.e. bid bond, OCIP, etc.).
  • Reviews plans and specifications to identify types and grades of materials, what quotes to solicit, and what resources will be required to complete bid in compliance with project requirements and bid deadlines.
  • Contacts vendors and reviews plans and specifications to obtain vendor quotes.
  • Reviews quoted bill of material for accuracy.
  • Performs quantity take off to determine labor, materials and fixtures, equipment and tools necessary for intended scope of work. Prepares scope letter to define bid specifics, alterations, etc.
  • Continually evaluates progress of bid project in relation to bid deadline and requests estimating resources as required.
  • Finalizes with Chief Estimator accurate, competitive and profitable bid proposal for the project.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Accubid Software or comparable program.
  • Knowledge of tools and principals involved in production of electrical plans, blueprints and drawings.
  • Experience with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum's, specifications and change orders.
  • Knowledge of estimating principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of suppliers and supplier data bases applicable to project specifications.
  • 3+ year’s minimum experience estimating in commercial electrical construction.
  • Four years electrical field experience.
  • A high school education or equivalent GED.
