Pay Range: SURGICAL TECH - $21.90 to $46.11

Surgical Tech I Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the surgeons and professional nurse in all aspects of operating room nursing.

Licensure and Certification:

  •  Current BLS provider card

Education:

  •  Completion of accredited program for surgical technicians.

Experience:

  •  New grad with training in the surgery tech role.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated competencies in sterile technique, knowledge of instrument sets, cleaning and caring for instruments and equipment and passing of instruments in surgical procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar and math skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Physical Demands - Patient Care:

  • Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
  • Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
  • Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
  • Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
  • Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.

Surgical Tech II Job Summary:

The Surgical Technician II is responsible for assisting the surgeon and professional nurses in all aspects of operating room nursing and providing orientation and in-service on all specialized equipment.

Licensure and Certification:

  •  Current BLS provider card

Education:

  • Completion of accredited program for surgical technicians. 
  •  Minimum 15 hours CEUs annually.

Experience:

  •  Min, 2 years current OR experience.
  •  Responsible for advanced instrumentation and equipment supply and orientation of new ORTs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  •  Competent skills in multispecialty surgeries, instrumentation and operating room aseptic technique.
  •  Knowledge regarding performance and maintenance of all advanced surgical equipment.
  •  Proficiency in performance of 100% of job specific competencies for ORTs.
  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills
  •  Organizational skills
  •  Proficient reading, writing, grammar and math skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

The Surgical Technician III has advanced certification and is responsible for assisting the surgeon and professional nurse in all aspects of operating room nursing and assists with orientation, in-service of all specialized equipment.

Licensure and Certification:

  •  Current BLS provider card

Education:

  •  Completion of accredited program for surgical technicians.
  •  Minimum 15 hours CEUs annually.
  •  Certification by an accredited agency.

Experience:

  •  2 to 3 yrs current OR experience. Responsible for advanced instrumentation and equipment supply and orientation of new ORTs.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive skills in multispecialty surgeries, instrumentation and operating room aseptic technique
  • Proficiency in performance of 100% of job specific competencies for ORTs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar and math skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
