Engineer IV, Software

The Engineer IV, Software is an experienced professional who participates in leading, creating and extending Omnicell products.  This person is a solid developer who can apply industry and corporate best practices to produce quality applications.  This person applies their practical and theoretical knowledge from Computer Science and previous experience in Healthcare and/or a Technology industry.  This person works as part of a team to design and develop new products as well as maintain Omnicell’s current portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, and implementation of Omnicell on-prem and cloud software solutions
  • Work as part of a team to design, develop, test, deploy new software
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Lead discussions and estimations required for product release planning
  • Collaborate with software quality engineers in all phases of testing including creating unit/integration tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on documentation, training, and technical integrations
  • Conduct code reviews for fellow team members as required and mentor other engineers

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in cloud technologies and migration to it
  • Expertise in using design and refactoring patterns
  • Proven database optimization skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in Object oriented analysis, design, and good general programming techniques (OOAD, OOP)
  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum software development lifecycle management
  • Proficient in DevOps and how to develop and utilize CI/CD pipeline
  • Understanding of Internationalization / Localization
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity while still pushing forward

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics or other Science/Engineering field
  • 8+ years hands-on experience in software development
  • Demonstrated experience in software architecture and design
  • Demonstrated software leadership experience in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other engineering fields of study
  • Healthcare or Medical Device software development experience
  • Understanding of Inventory / warehouse management
