About the role 

We are looking to welcome experienced Crowd Controllers to join our Event Security team on a casual basis.  

Reporting to the Supervisor at an event, your role is to provide a high level of service to our customers through proactive monitoring your environment and efficient and demonstrating a quick response to incidents as they occur.

The roles you perform will change on a shift by shift basis - one day you might be working court security at John Cain Arena for an NBL match; the next performing access control for artist entry at Rod Laver Arena and then at a corporate event for Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park. 

Our thriving precinct operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At a buzzing precinct like ours, these times are many and varied and often include late nights, early mornings, weekends and public holidays. To be successful in this role your availability will need to be flexible and include being available during the peak event times between August and March each year including full availability for the 14 days of the Australian Open held in January each year. 
  

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Ensure guests comply with our conditions of entry and venue rules 

  • Monitor guest behaviour including the consumption of alcohol 

  • Responding to incidents while using conflict resolution and de-escalation methods 

  • Provide a high-quality visual security presence  

  • Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the implementation of emergency procedures 

 

What you will bring to the role: 

  • Hold a current Victorian Private Security Individual Licence with the activities of security guard and crowd controller 

  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service approach 

  • Ability to act, think quickly and maintain professionalism in high pressure situations 

  • High level of physical fitness with the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time 

  • Good personal presentation 

  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships 

  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team 

  • Experience with radio protocol and communications 

Desirable but not essential: 

  • First Aid - Level 2 or above 

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
