Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of a licensed RN, the CNAs will provide basic nursing care to patients and/or residents in accordance with the patient’s and/or resident’s assessment and treatment plan. In addition, they will support and maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and/or residents. Incumbents will be assigned a specific home unit but may be floated to other areas for additional support when needed. Staff assigned to the Float Pool will be assigned to units as needs are identified.
The CNA needs to be proficient in speaking English in order to accurately and effectively communicate with patients and/or residents. Patients include those from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, socio-economic standing, education, etc. Depending on the unit in which they are working, they may be required to learn specific skills necessary to provide the best care to patients and/or residents.
CNA II's have the ability to train CNA I positions as well as perform the full scope of duties for a CNA I or II at BRH. Skills include, but are not limited to: Completing non-invasive collection and testing of physical specimens (gastroccult, hemoccult, urine dip sticks), glucose testing and reporting, suctioning the oral pharynx, removal of internal or external urinary catheters, peri-care, bladder scans, electrode placements for electrocardiograms, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, Incentive Spirometer use, etc.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
