ABOUT THE ROLE

It’s an exciting time to join MoFo as the Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Specialist.  Under the direction of the CDIO and/or Senior Manager, Attorney Diversity and Inclusion, the Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Specialist (1) designs, coordinates and manages, tracks, and evaluates initiatives and programs designed to support the recruitment, retention, and advancement of diverse attorneys and summer, and (2) supports diversity and inclusion (D+I) marketing initiatives, specifically assisting with D+I surveys and reactive reporting. Partners with appropriate parties to implement diversity initiatives and organize local and firmwide diversity programs. Assists in benchmarking, reporting, and maintaining D+I records. The Attorney Diversity & Inclusion Specialist will ensure client service and satisfaction are attained in all areas of position. 

  • Assist with tracking all diversity candidates, their touch points, performance reviews, conversion statistics for the Summer Associate Program, etc.
  • Assist with program management and execution of the firm’s D+I Fellowships programs (e.g., Wetmore Fellowship, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) and other diversity-related Summer Associate Program events.
  • Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of D+I Fellows programs and diversity-related summer events.
  • Correspond with attorney recruiting team, law schools, and candidates, as directed.
  • Assist in supporting the firm’s various Affinity Networks and Affinity Network Liaisons (partners), including helping to schedule meetings, taking notes, coordinating and facilitating events, tracking Network budgets, preparing presentations to stakeholders (e.g., DSC), updating portal pages, circulating invites, etc.
  • Manage collection and creation of Annual Affinity Program Report.
  • Sourcing, vetting, and communicating with external speakers and internal stakeholders to execute cultural and heritage celebrations (e.g., Black History Month, Veterans Day).
  • Serve as copy writer and editor for D+I talking points, surveys, social media, portal/website, internal and external collateral. Produce substantive content for D+I marketing materials and work with the marketing team on maintaining content on the Firm’s D+I web page (internal and external, i.e. diversity headlines).
  • Assist with D+I and Women’s Initiatives’ event coordination and planning.
  • Assist in the selection, coordination, and follow up of all diversity related networking and professional development opportunities for attorneys (help with tracking budgets, where necessary).
  • Take notes for D+I Team, DSC, Affinity Network, and D+I/WI meetings.
  • Assist with creation of PowerPoints, agendas, and marketing material.
  • Diversity Community & Recruiting Pages. Help maintain diversity pages and resources on the firm’s intranet.
  • Diversity awareness.  Work with other members of the D+I team and internal stakeholders to promote diversity awareness and inclusivity.
  • Diversity knowledge.  Keep current on attorney diversity-related issues within the firm and, to a lesser extent, in the larger legal community.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years of recruiting, admissions or diversity experience in a professional services firm, an institution of higher education, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.  Law firm/school experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Human Resource systems, Applicant Tracking systems, and relational databases preferred.
  • Ability to learn new systems.
  • High client service ethic and a proven record in delivering exemplary client satisfaction to external and internal client constituencies.
  • Excellent writing skills: ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels within and outside the firm.
  • Strong interactive skills and the ability to succeed in a teamwork environment demonstrating reliability, dependability and flexibility is essential.
  • Ability to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding all sensitive information and Firm business matters.
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, highly detailed work product.
  • Ability to assess information, anticipate issues and outcomes, and make effective decisions.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $80K to $118K

Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston salary range: $74K to $100K

Denver salary range: $69K to $90K
