ABOUT THE ROLE

The Executive Manager provides executive support to the General Counsel and attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”).  

  • Provide strategic and administrative support for OGC attorneys and risk management initiatives and firm policy related issues, maintaining strict confidentiality and responding with accountability and ownership to needs that can change in priority, sensitivity, and urgency.
  • Serve as key point of contact to firm constituents for the Office of the General Counsel, escalate questions and issues as appropriate, and provide guidance on non-legal ethics and risk management questions; and firm policies, practice, and procedures.
  • Act as project lead for risk management trainings and events, preparing communications and schedules, and assisting with content development and production logistics.
  • Maintain and update the Risk Management Handbook and assist with the development and publication of risk management policies and guidelines.
  • Stay ahead of upcoming events, initiatives and related action items; ensure that OGC attorneys are informed and prepared.
  • Manage and calendar meeting requests for the General Counsel using judgment and discretion; coordinate directly with participants and, when appropriate, their assistants to ensure seamless scheduling.
  • Act as overall project lead for annual firm and office risk management meetings, communicating and liaising with Directors of Administration, partners, and functional heads.  Employ strong project management skills and tools to ensure successful meetings.
  • Provide overall project management for litigation and arbitrations in which the firm is a party, including assisting with fact gathering, liaising with outside counsel, and facilitating participation from other functions while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Manage Firm corporate and partnership materials including California LLP documents, Firm affiliate documents, Firm partnership agreement and related documents; act as liaison with firm and office leadership for implementation and interpretation.

ABOUT YOU

  • Five or more years’ experience in a professional services role with increasing levels of responsibility; previous law firm experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the Office of the General Counsel and the Firm.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly.
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to analyze needs and to determine priorities based on business objectives.
  • Ability to apply big picture understanding to decision making.
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance, to ask questions, and to identify and address unmet needs as they arise.
  • Ability to develop or leverage strong relationships within functional departments to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a high emotional intelligence and be culturally sensitive.
  • Ability to work with busy partners in large law firm setting.  Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • Ability to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding Firm personnel or matters.

Where required by law, salary ranges are stated below. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications.

San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $170k to $225k

Los Angeles, San Diego salary range: $160k to $215k
