GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY:  Design, implement, manage, and support desktop, servers, systems, and network to reliably and efficiently provide the infrastructure and support to all of CRL Strategic Business Units and corporate sponsors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

·        Fulfill Service Requests; workstation moves, software installations, equipment configuration changes, etc.

·        Perform desktop administration and support for all desktop applications.

·        Prepare weekly status report of activity or issues.

·        Maintain documentation of activities performed.

·        Resolve Desktop/System/Network tier 1/2 incidents and fulfill service requests daily.

  • Monitor and remedy Incident and Request queues, troubleshoot and resolve assigned hardware, software, LAN/WAN, and phones incidents.

·        Applications account creation and termination.

·        Provide support for VPN connectivity via Cisco VPN client and Duo two form authentication.

·        Evaluate, design, and analyze recommendations for new equipment requests to be deployed into the enterprise; printers, desktop hardware, and desktop software.

·        Analyze and resolve day to day issues.

·        Procure and track purchasing requests.

·        Assist technical support staff with analyzing and troubleshooting off-hour production support issues.

·        Provide cross-training to the technical support staff in all areas assigned.

·        Track system outages in order to provide analysis of opportunities for improvement.

·        Identify, seek, and track, procurement savings. 

·        Track, follow up, and resolve all assigned incidents and requests.

·        Monitor systems and perform day-to-day server administration.

  •          Responsible for system documentation, job scheduling, installations and upgrades.

·        Track and maintain legal software compliance by ensuring all CRL licensed software is up to date with vendor support agreements.

·        Ensure that all hardware maintenance contracts are tracked and kept up to date.

·        Assist other internal and external support organizations to analyze and troubleshoot 2nd and 3rd level support issues as needed.

·        Analyze, design and troubleshoot network support issues.

·        Represent Systems Administration team by participating in all internal SBU projects which would affect the server/desktop environments.

·        Mentor, coach, and train other systems administrators.

·        Remediate server, desktop, network, and application vulnerabilities as directed. 

·        Create and enforce system standards established by the system administration team.

·        Be proficient in system performance monitoring and capacity planning.

·        Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software solutions to be used in the CRL production environment.

·        Provide direction on emerging technologies.

·        Work on SOC 2 compliance and other security audit compliance as directed.

·        Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all CRL, CRL subsidiaries, legal entities and client information.

·        Be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:  Computer Science Degree or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:  2 years systems administration experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and all levels of the customer’s organization to identify needs, evaluate solutions, identify opportunities for improvement and build customer relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices and the ability to understand complex and advanced technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated success in customer service and relationship building.
  • Ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously, and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of operating systems and office productivity software (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office/Office 365, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat)
  • Familiarity with WAN devices, circuits, cabling, voice communication systems and facilities management.
  • Working knowledge of operating endpoint management tools and reporting (Microsoft SCCM)
  • Experience using IT Service Management software (FootPrint and ServiceNow)
  • Basic knowledge of one or two of the following CRL operating systems {Tru64, OpenVMS, Windows Server, Linux, Cisco IOS and Aix} and their associated hardware platforms.

EQUIPMENT:  All of CRL’s IT hardware and software systems.

OTHER:  Flexible work schedule; work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, may be required; this is an on-call position requiring use of wireless phone for after-hours contact.
