The Community Builder will be responsible for fostering community engagement, developing strategic partnerships, planning and executing events, and promoting local initiatives. This role is designed to strengthen the connection between the newspaper and the local community, ensuring that the newspaper remains relevant and valuable to its readers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Engagement:
- Foster strong relationships within the community.
- Act as a liaison between the newspaper and local organizations, businesses, and community leaders.
- Advocate for local journalism and its importance to the community.
2. Partnership Development:
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships that benefit both the community and the newspaper.
- Collaborate with local businesses to create mutually beneficial projects.
- Promote local initiatives and special sections as community projects.
3. Event Planning and Execution:
- Plan and execute community events, from large-scale events like Best of Preps to smaller events like lunch and learns.
- Ensure events are well-organized and meet the needs of the community.
4. Project Management:
- Manage 6 to 10 community projects annually.
- Develop and implement content plans, sales plans, and distribution plans for each project.
- Track project performance and provide regular updates to the management team.
5. Journalism Advocacy:
- Train to understand the role of local journalism.
- Work with the editorial team to identify and promote important local stories.
- Engage with businesses to support local journalism through sponsorships and advertising.
6. Internal Coordination:
- Foster partnerships and communication internally between editorial and sales teams.
- Ensure that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals for each project.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Experience in community engagement, partnership development, or a related field.
- Understanding of the importance of local journalism and a passion for promoting it.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be a local resident with deep ties in the community or someone who wants to create deep ties in the community.
This is not a sales position; however, bonuses will be awarded based on the success of community projects and new subscriptions.
