Description

The mission of West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is to “Serve West Point and the Long Gray Line.”  WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. Our vision is to ensure the Long Gray Line remains the most highly connected alumni body in the world. USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400, and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

The vision of WPAOG is to be the most connected alumni body in the world. The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is seeking a Part-Time Tour Guide for our Rockbound Highland Home (RBHH) Program. This position reports directly to the Outreach Coordinator. This position is within the Office of Alumni Support.

As a RBHH Tour Guide, this person will lead a group of up to 10 people on a 2.5-hour Grad Insider Tour, a series of walking tour stops for graduates and their guests that is not available to the general public.  This tour includes, but is not limited to, the Kimsey Center, the Cadet Uniform Factory, Arvin Gym, Washington Hall, Jefferson Hall, and the Thayer Award Room. The goal of the Rockbound Highland Home Program is to make our returning Alumni feel welcome when they return to their Rockbound Highland Home.  This person may conduct up to two tours per day and will drive a 14-passenger van to transport tour attendees to the various tour stops.

While a tour script will be provided, this person must be extremely knowledgeable and familiar with the United States Military Academy, West Point, and the military, in general. The position will require the individual to: learn a computer-based tour registration system, walk up to two miles per tour, in non-handicap-accessible areas, and drive a large vehicle while conversing with passengers.

Additionally, the person must be a self-starter, able to work independently of supervision, have proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, exercise sound judgement to meet the needs of our visiting Alumni, their guests and families. This person will conduct at least one tour per week, requiring approximately three hours of time, and could be asked to conduct tours requiring a maximum of 15 hours per week. Excellent communication and people skills is a must.   A collaborative and pleasant working demeanor is absolutely required.
