Class Giving Officer The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates. USMA is renowned as the preeminent leader development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is seeking a Giving Officer for their Class Giving Program to secure donations for the United States Military Academy (USMA). This position reports directly to the WPAOG’s Director of Class Giving. As part of the Class Giving Team, this individual is responsible for maximizing Class Giving results both by gift size and percent class participation by providing consultative guidance and administrative support for assigned classes engaged in reunion gift campaigns. Following the full fundraising cycle, he/she is knowledgeable about all USMA/WPAOG approved needs that require private funding; matches class giving potential and interest with these funding needs; assists each class in selecting an appropriate class gift project; designs a fundraising campaign strategy; actively manages class volunteers and the successful implementation of the strategy, maintains close communication with the class and USMA/WPAOG to gain approval and acceptance of the class gift. The Class Giving Officer actively participates in structuring the overall plan for the team. The successful applicant must have: an ability to acquire solid, comprehensive knowledge of the academic, athletic, and activity programs of the United States Military Academy; knowledge of the fundamentals of fundraising; an ability to initiate, organize, and follow through with fundraising strategies and meet deadlines as required; experience setting priorities and successfully managing multiple projects of varying complexity and urgency simultaneously; and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Class Giving Officer must be available to attend local social functions in an official capacity and be available for occasional travel or work on week-ends. A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Prior fundraising experience is strongly preferred. Previous experience working in higher education development is preferred. CRM experience is a plus.
