Chief Financial Officer

The West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the United States Military Academy (USMA), and to supporting and serving its graduates.  USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution.  The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400 and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

The West Point Association of Graduates, a 501(C) (3) non-profit organization with over $50M in annual revenue is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  This position reports directly to the President and CEO and works closely with senior management, the Director of Academy Advancement (USMA), the Board of Directors and in particular, the Chairs of the Finance, Investment, and Audit Compliance Committees and has direct oversight of the finance staff and indirectly Human Resources and Gift Operations.

The incumbent in this position will provide strategic, financial, accounting and business support for WPAOG. The CFO is responsible for the orderly conduct of the financial operations and oversight of its assets (currently $500 million).  The CFO also ensures that the finance team provides financial controls, accounting, and reporting in accordance with Unites States Generally Accepted Accounting Policies and New York State nonprofit regulations. Additionally, the CFO ensures that sound financial, budgetary, and operational controls are present in planning, programming, budgeting and execution of the business of WPAOG.

Strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.  Experience with non-profit financial management and accounting is important and having familiarity with the United States Military Academy and Army operations is a plus. Inspirational, positive, “hands on” leadership style preferred. He/she must have a respectful, constructive and energetic management style, guided by the objectives and policies set by the CEO. Some travel is necessary.

Ten or more years of leadership in a financial function and a BS/BA in business or accounting is required. An MBA is a plus and a CPA is strongly desired.  We offer excellent benefits and a pleasant working environment.  Salary commensurate with skills and experience.
