Description

Civic Engagement Director

Organization:

We believe a better LA County--a better world--is possible.

LA Voice believes all people have power and a voice. Every day we amplify that power by uniting diverse faith voices and equipping grassroots leaders to stand up for what their communities need, winning systemic changes that improve the lives of all of us, especially those most impacted by poverty and racism. We are a multi-faith, multi-racial, multi-lingual organization of 55 churches, synagogues, and mosques that represent more than 70,000 families in Los Angeles County. LA Voice (501(c)3) and our affiliated organization LA Voice Action (501(c)4)  have a two-decade track record of winning significant systemic changes on issues affecting poor people and BIPOC communities. (See our Facebook page L.A. Voice or website www.lavoice.org). LA Voice is a member of PICO California and  Faith in Action National Network, the largest grassroots spiritual and congregational organizing network in the U.S.

LA Voice and LA Voice Action have a track record of effective and data-driven voter engagement that builds power for our communities.

Through our 100% Voting Congregations program, LA Voice’s member congregations aim to reach 100% citizenship, registration, and voter participation. Grassroots leaders build relationships and turn out voters in their own congregations and neighborhoods, using data from PDI and membership lists to track progress. We have also led the field in supporting the leadership of justice-system impacted voters through: hiring justice-system impacted leaders to run paid phone banks and registering over 1000 formerly incarcerated individuals to vote in 2020 alone.

Between volunteers and paid staff, LA Voice spoke one or more times with 152,000 voters in 2021.

LA Voice Action was founded in 2018 with a mission to turn the power of faith voices in Los Angeles County into transformative wins for our communities. To achieve this, we carry out deep, year-round voter engagement efforts that are building a powerful, faithful voting bloc that turns out in every single election, no matter how large or small. Since our founding we have contributed to major electoral victories and ballot measure campaigns, engaging 307,000 voters in 2021. Since its founding, LA Voice Action contributed, through Independent Expenditure Committees, to the successful elections of Holly Mitchell to County Supervisor and George Gascon to District Attorney as well as Katie Hill for Congress.
