Job Description:

·         Provide support to the NSWCPD SUBSAFE Certification Branch Code 242 who is assigned as the Supervising Authority for Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) for work performed by Assigned Activities as set forth in NAVSEA Notice 5000.

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist shall provide support to NSWCPD Project Services Management Team Program Manager (PM) in the execution of the On-site Representative (OSR) duties resultant of NSWCPD assignment as the

·         Contracting Authority in accordance with the applicable NSWCPD Quality Management System (QMS) procedures (local processes).

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist will be expected to work in both a shipboard and Shop environment. The Quality Assurance Specialist should expect approximately 80% of their level of effort to be expended aboard Ship located at NNSY. 20% of the time the Quality Assurance Specialist should expect to be co-located with the work to be assessed at NNSY.

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist will be requested to travel to NSWCPD, Philadelphia, PA an estimated 3 trips per calendar year with each trip lasting an estimated 5 days.

·         This position does not support telework or working from a remote or alternate location.

Required Skills and Experiences:

·         A Quality Assurance Specialist will possess a level of knowledge of, and experience level with, the Navy’s Submarine Safety Program (SUBSAFE) and Level I (LI) Material Program commensurate with either the Apprentice or Journeyman level. The Quality Assurance Specialist shall possess a working knowledge of the SUBSAFE Re-Entry Control (REC) process.

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist shall read and comprehend NAVSEA 0924-062-0010, Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Requirements Manual, current revision and change level, and NAVSEANOTE 5000, Activities Authorized to Perform SUBSAFE Work, FBW SCS, and DSS-SOC Work.

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist shall read and comprehend NAVSEA 0948-LP-045-7010, Material Control Standard, current revision and change level.

·         The Quality Assurance Specialist shall possess knowledge of submarine Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems, and components.

         Required Skills:

·         Proficient in working and understanding the following computer programs.

·         *MS Office, Word, Excel, Adobe

·         Proficient in Reading and understand complex electromechanical engineering drawings/blueprints.

·         Read/ Review technical specifications and procedures.

 

·         Physical Demands: Able to meet the following daily physical demands:

·         Standing for extended periods of time

·         Climbing ladders

·         Subjected to loud environment.

·         Subjected to fluctuating climate temperatures.

·         Squatting and ducking to maneuvering through tight or congested spaces

·         Must be a U.S. citizen.

·         A secret security clearance
