Job Description:

  • This position supports the Deputy Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)Total Force & Corporate Operations (SEA 10) Directorate.
  • NAVSEA is the Department of Navy’s (DON’s) central activity for designing, engineering, integrating, building, and procuring U.S. Naval ships, shipboard weapons, and combat systems.
  • NAVSEA's responsibilities also include the maintenance, repair, modernization, and conversion of in-service ships and their weapons and combat systems.
  • NAVSEA's Total Force & Corporate Operations Directorate's priority is to strengthen the Navy team: get them in, get them working, and develop careers. They do this by focusing on civilian resourcing, hiring and retention, and civilian and military compliance, training, and technical competence programs.
  • The Action Officer's role is to partner with the Deputy Commander on daily tasks that support these focus areas, leveraging project management, change management, and strategic communications expertise to recommend solutions see them through to finished products and/or services.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Attend meetings with the Deputy Commander to capture minutes, specifically relevant content and actions assigned, to develop a strategy to complete those actions within the specified time-frame.
  • Develop Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) and track actions to completion.
  • Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Format information for internal and external communication – briefing papers, presentations, reports.
  • Coordinate, perform, and manage a variety of office management tasks and activities in direct support of the Special Assistant to include postal, official mail, and a variety of other services and duties.
  • Manage processes and activities to support organizational communications, including correspondence preparation, distribution, suspense tracking, workflow management, electronic mail management, content management, and other related duties.
  • Directs and oversees the receipt, tasking, tracking and closure of all internal and external tasks.
  • Assembles actions/packages for decision approval by SEA 10 Deputy Commander or designee.
  • Function as the point person for Commanders Update Briefs (CUB) (i.e., Quad charts).
  • Keep Focus Area Leads informed on deadlines and action items.
  • Consolidates and reviews actions from other sources related to tasks.
  • Develop and maintain administrative and manpower metrics reports.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • A minimum of ten years working experience providing Senior Executive Support within the federal government or military environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong Customer Service skills.
  • Ability to work under direction and independently, be self-motivated, and result oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize work and schedules to adjust to multiple and evolving priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and exhibit creative problem-solving skills.
  • Skill with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Project Management and Change Management background.
  • Able to work with senior military personnel, government civilians, contractors, and administrative teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • A secret security clearance.

Degree Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Master's degree preferred.
