Job Description: 

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Arlington, VA to support our NAVSEA PEO IWS 11 Terminal Defense Systems support contract.  This position will provide support to the Terminal Defense System (TDS) PEO IWS 11.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in Day-to-day communication and provide technical support to the NAVSEA PEO IWS 11 Terminal Defense Systems Engineering Development Team and stakeholders.
  • Provide support for execution of design, development, production and in-service activities. Support will include system analysis, combat system integration, modeling and simulation, and participation in requirements development and maintenance.
  • Provide technical expertise for top-level test strategy and policy development. Participate in development of overall test objectives, test scenarios and data collection/reduction/analysis plans. Support the integration of technical, programmatic, and operational requirements, and assist in traceability analysis and test requirement verification.
  • Participate in program reviews, technical reviews.
  • Participate in strategic planning, including development of technology roadmaps, budget strategies, future upgrade evolutions and program infrastructure plans.
  • Develop guidelines for documenting and managing program requirements, establishing goals and objectives, and establishment of processes and procedures to enhance overall program control and execution.
  • Actively participate in the program meetings including Interface Working Group, Safety Working Group, Technical Management Team and System Analysis Working Group meetings. 
  • Prepare technical documentation, senior level briefings and other reporting requirements.
  • Review and provide technical comments on pertinent specifications, program plans, test plans, contractor documentation, work plans, failure diagnoses, and proposals.
  • Support in the planning, documentation, generation of schedules and other documentation required to initiate system upgrades. This includes remaining current on threat information, potential tactics.
  • Provide technical input, in the areas of effectiveness, risks, and programmatic planning when reviewing potential avenues for countering new threats.
  • Provide technical inputs to integration methodologies according to various ship classes, combat system capabilities, and available sensors. Review and provide comments on firing policies, interface changes, and operator workloads.
  • Participate in integration studies and meetings as required. Provide technical review and comments on simulation planning, proposals, and results.
  • Assist in the management of digital efforts including development, security, and operations (DevSecOps) and Agile development-related efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD/DoN procedures and policies.
  • Management of duties, training, and mentoring of technical support team.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project proficiency

Bonus points if you have:

  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) knowledge a plus
  • Knowledge of Agile SW Development preferred
  • MS Power Business Intelligence (BI) experience preferred

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret in DISS required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field or equivalent with 7+ years experience in DoD/DoN programs
