About the Role
 
InnovaSystems is seeking a junior Business Systems Analyst for its Navy Reserve Readiness Module (NRRM) project team. The NRRM team is responsible for the development and fielding of a system that contains personnel readiness data for reserve personnel in the US Navy.
 
The successful candidate will work with other business analysts and the product manager to execute all activities specified in the company's CMMI Level 3 certified software development process.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Researching and defining business needs that are captured in user stories
  • Acting as a proxy for the users and customers by interfacing directly with developers, subject matter experts, and testers to ensure the functionality is acceptable in fulfilling the identified customer value
  • Assisting in the development and management of requirements during brainstorming, refining and planning activities
  • Communicating and coordinating with stakeholders, subject matter experts, user experience architects, and the product manager to analyze and define the business objectives of the product outlined in the vision statement for the project
  • Learning requirements development best practices that are aligned with agile software development methodologies
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to learn the Navy's business domain

 

Educational Requirements:

 
Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, or an associate's degree in Computer Science.
 
Requirements:
 
  • 1-2 years of experience in business analysis or in a related analysis discipline
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior military personnel and an agile software development team
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, time management and meeting facilitation skills
  • Working knowledge of data analytics using PowerBI and MS Excel
  • Experience interpreting software requirements and developing user stories working with a feature team
  • Strong commitment to explore and implement requirements development best practices based on agile methodologies
  • Flexibility to support testing activities

Experience Desired:

  • Experience with Scrum or other agile methods
  • Experience with military personnel systems
  • Familiarity with SQL queries
  • Working knowledge of MS SharePoint and Azure DevOps
