Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Public Works - Resort Building Maintenance Division is currently hiring a Plumber II.

As a Plumber II, you will install, repair, and maintain piping fittings and fixtures involved in the distribution and use of water in a City building in accordance with best practices of the trade.
Duties include:
Must possess a Journeyman’s License and have or obtain a Backflow Prevention License within (1) year of employment
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
This position may require that incumbents wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, gloves, or other designated safety attire and equipment in designated areas of risk.
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: High school or GED plus four (4) years experience in plumbing; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Possess a Journeymans License. Must have or obtain a Backflow Prevention License within (1) year of employment. Must have, or obtain, a current and valid Virginia or North Carolina drivers license in accordance with Virginia or North Carolina DMV drivers license eligibility requirements.

Preferences:
Experience with installing, maintaining and repairing Plumbing fixtures
Experience with maintaining , repairing and servicing lift stations
Experience with clearing sewer and drain systems
Experience with installing and maintaining water supply and waste systems.
Experience and ability to read blue prints and isometrics
Experience with Storm Water systems
Experience in drain cleaning
Experience with lift stations and lift station control panels Experience in Plumbing construction commercial and residential
Experience in Plumbing service commercial and residential
Experience in special event set up
Experience with computers/laptops and smart phones
Special Instructions:
VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
