Mechanical & Electrical Coordinator

The M&E Coordinator provides technical and administrative support for the Mechanical and Electrical aspects of our water/waste water projects. 

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager and Site Supervisor in coordinating the work of Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) sub-contractors.  In the case of self perform work directly with the Mechanical PM and/or Site Supervisor to coordinate the work.
  • Review the progress of M & E work on site and monitor the quality of completed work.  In the case of sub-contracted work report to the Project Manager and Site Supervisor.
  • Prepare and distribute the Bi-Weekly M&E Project Status Report
  • Prepare and distribute as required, Requests for Information (RFI’s) and maintain the project RFI log for M&E work.
  • Review and submit shop drawing submissions as required for conformance to the specifications and agreed subcontract scope. Monitor and actively expedite the review of M&E shop drawings and subsequent deliveries to site.
  • Prepare and maintain the project Master Equipment List.
  • For Design Build Projects, review updated mechanical design drawings and specifications for conformance to tender drawings and costs.
  • Assist the Mechanical PM or PM to execute or procure any outstanding project purchases using the budget as guidance.  Also assist with pricing additional work.
  • Monitor and expedite the deliveries of key equipment.
  • Establish procedures for measuring and monitoring materials delivered and progress of work by the M&E subcontractors, or Kenaidan’s  mechanical crew.
  • Lead the preparation of project Commissioning Plans, including scheduling, for M&E work, coordination with owner, engineer, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Actively assist the Site Supervisor to lead the overall Commissioning Process, including Training of Owner staff.
  • Assist the mechanical and electrical subcontractor(s) or Kenaidan’s mechanical crew, with scheduling of their work, to match the needs of the project schedule.
  • Monitor manpower of the mechanical and electrical subcontractors, Kenaidan’s mechanical crew and prepare manpower curves as needed. Assist the mechanical and electrical subcontractors, or Kenaidan’s mechanical crew and the Site Supervisor to develop corrective strategies where schedule or other issues arise.
  • Review M&E subcontractor Additional Work quotations to ensure that they are fair and reasonable, prior to submission to the Consultant by the Project Manager
  • Expedite the close out of M&E deficiencies. 
  • Assist the project coordinator to finalize and distribute Operations & Maintenance Manuals and As Built drawings.

    Education and Experience:   

    • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. P.Eng or C.E.T designation preferred.

    • A minimum of 3 years experience coordinating mechanical and electrical work.

    • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Powerpoint, Bluebeam

    • Strong interpersonal skills

    • Strong organization skills

    • Good written communication skills

    • Able to effectively handle multiple tasks at concurrently.

    • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines

    Working Conditions:

    • This position may be office or site based depending on the project. When located on site, personal protective equipment (ie. hard hat, safety boots) required at all times.
