Project Engineer

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Role:  In this position the incumbent will spend time in various areas of the operational side of the company as outlined below.   The goal of this position is to provide recent graduates with exposure to various aspects of the business before they move into a traditional role in Field Operations, Project Management or Estimating.  

Responsibilities: The timing, order and format of each assignment will vary depending on the prior experience of the incumbent and the availability of assignments:

Assignment 1:

Working on site as a junior Project Coordinator, under the direct supervision of an experienced Project Coordinator, the incumbent will gain a thorough understanding of Specifications, Contract Drawings, Shop Drawings and coordination of Contract and Shop drawings.  In this time the incumbent would also learn how the coordination of drawings contributes to the smooth progress of work on a project.

Assignment 2: 

Working on the tools with our field crews in either concrete or mechanical to gain an understanding of how our self-performed operations work.

Assignment 3:

Working on site as a Field Coordinator, the incumbent will assist the Site Supervisor in planning, coordination and lay-out of construction activities.

Education:
Degree/Diploma in a construction related discipline.

Skills & Experience:

  • Construction related experience an asset;
  • General construction knowledge including blueprint reading;
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet, project planning, AutoCAD);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong Organizational skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Knowledge of survey equipment (i.e. total station, level, transit, laser level) would be an asset.


Working Conditions:
Located on site, personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety boots) required at all times when on site.
