Roofmart, a major Canadian distributor of residential, commercial  Roofing  and  Siding  products since 1957, requires a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our growing organization.  With over 50 Roofmart locations across Canada, we are strategically positioned to handle all our customer needs, and we are looking for You to join our great team and help us grow our business. 

Job Summary

This position is responsible for but not limited to managing a company's employee compensation and benefits system. Among the duties of the payroll and benefits administrator are ensuring the smooth operation of employee payment and explaining and implementing employees' benefits packages, and carry out other duties as required. This position will report to the Controller.

 

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company Health and Safety policies and procedures

 

Payroll Administration

  • Administer weekly payroll for all employees (hourly and salary) through Kronos Workforce
  • Processes employee changes
  • Issues expense checks and maintains roster
  • Processes separate payrolls for yearly bonus programs
  • Processes sick pay and worker compensation reports
  • Performs year end responsibilities to include keying fees, vehicle expenses, group term life, moving expenses, third party sick pay
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Benefit Administration

  • Administers health plans including enrollments and terminations in HRD
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions
  • Processes monthly billings from insurance providers
  • Completes reports for management as requested
  • Coordinates some wellness activities to include annual health risk assessment process
  • Coordinates with insurance companies to resolve employee insurance issues

Authority

  • Audits time and attendance system for integrity
  • Verifies payroll correctness and distributes paychecks
  • Reviews billings for accuracy, codes and advances for payment
  • Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company

Performance Measure

  • Ensure accuracy in all administering of Payroll and Benefits
  • Ensure all employee files are up to date and complete

 

Experience and Skills

  • Bilingual (English and French)
  • An Associate’s degree and three (3) years payroll/human resources experience, or equivalent
  • Time and attendance system experience a plus
  • Advanced computer skills to include data entry, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent/professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Experience using the following ADP products a plus: Workforce Now, Pay Expert, Enterprise E-Time
  • Strong initiative, ability to anticipate issues proactively
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of reliability and responsibility
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Discreet, able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to interact with individuals from diverse levels within a corporation and to provide excellent customer service
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed during months of October January and during special HR activities
