What will I be doing?  

  • Expanding, creating, and implementing travel demand management strategies such as transit connections, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, carpool, vanpool, telework, etc. to support the Travel Demand Management Program

  • Developing focus areas, specific actions, and coordinating outreach efforts to promote commuter alternatives to alleviate congestion and improve air quality in those areas

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with the public and key stakeholders within the eight-county Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) service area

  • Building the foundation for strong community relations with community organizations, governmental agencies, educational institutions, civic groups, and others

  • Proactively seeking out potential partnerships that will enhance the visibility of the Travel Demand Management Program and improve communications with the public and stakeholders

  • Providing proactive and continuous public outreach and education to select target audiences

  • Attending relevant community outreach events and making presentations to select groups about the Travel Demand Management Program

  • Developing and delivering educational content to positively impact use of travel demand management strategies in the region

  • Providing project management and administration, including budgeting, expense tracking, reporting, volunteer management, project planning and execution, consultant management, and evaluation


Key Qualifications  

  • Knowledge of alternative transportation program practices, including marketing and outreach; and public relations techniques

  • Ability to:

    • find, download, interpret and present in a graphic way a worksite, corridor, neighborhood, or region’s demographic, employment and commute pattern data

    • read and interpret technical reports and planning documentation

    • compile, develop and organize data into written reports and publications, presentations etc

    • work independently to complete projects and tasks

  • Excellent verbal (in person, online and over the phone) and written communication skills

  • Successful at delivering engaging, research-based presentations before groups of various sizes

  • Demonstrated interest in alternative transportation, sustainability or improving quality of life in communities


Do you have…  

  • Bachelor degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study

  • 5 years of experience with local government, nonprofit programs, schoold or in job related duties
