First Hawaiian Bank is currently seeking a Data Governance Analyst I/II to join our team in Data Governance Department. The Data Governance team ensures that sound practices are in place across the enterprise to govern key data assets, by setting standards (Policy Making), collaborating with various business units across the Bank (Advisory), as well as controlling and consolidating the risks (Oversight).

As a member of the Data Governance team, the Data Governance Analyst I/II is responsible for:

  • Supporting key data governance activities across the enterprise including data quality monitoring and data control assessment and design.
  • Identifying and documenting key data elements used in regulatory and financial reporting or used to support major strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborating with data owners, data stewards, business owners and data governance leaders to create verifiable business rules that help establish key enterprise data is valid and fit for use.
  • Guiding and supporting business units in the implementation of data controls designed to improve the quality of the data under their control.
  • Monitoring, consolidating and reporting the risks using Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure effective oversight and facilitate proactive risk management.

The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

Work Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (hours may vary)

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this role is: $57,000 - $92,000 per year; commensurate with experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, IT, related field, or equivalent, directly related experience required.
  • Master’s degree in business, economics, finance, IT or a related field preferred.
  • Data Governance Analyst I: Minimum 2 years of data governance, data analysis or business analyst experience, ideally with a focus on banking data.
  • Data Governance Analyst II: Minimum 5 years of data governance, data analysis or business analyst experience, ideally with a focus on banking data.
  • Must have experienced multiple full project lifecycles from business development to final delivery.
  • Prior experience applying Agile principles and Scrum methodology is a plus.
  • A solid understanding of data management, data administration, and information lifecycle governance.
  • A solid understanding of banking and finance.
  • Experience in data profiling and data analysis.
  • Experience interacting with enterprise-wide data warehouses, legacy systems, data marts, and business intelligence systems.
  • Experience in Cross-functional/Cross-Company projects is preferred.
  • Experience with Relational Databases (preferably Oracle) and/or other data integration and management tools.
  • Ability to read code and/or specifications for database, file, and record definitions.
  • Sufficient experience to understand large-scale, commercial application packages such as those that support the bank.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing, business requirement proposals, client interaction, and methodology documentation.
  • Works well across multiple business units.
  • Solid organizational skills, with the ability to handle complex projects in a multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines with quality results.
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
  • Able to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve problems quickly.
  • Able to handle confidential matters judiciously.
