Our Chattanooga, TN office is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Preconstruction team.
Position Summary:
A Project Engineer plays an essential role in the success of all stages of a project. This includes assisting the project team through the decision, planning, and execution phases with the aim of defining and creating value for our clients.

Responsibilities change depending on assignment to ensure a Project Engineer has consistent opportunities to learn and grow. When assigned to one of EMJ’s regional offices, a Project Engineer will primarily assist Project Managers & Preconstruction Managers. When assigned to an active EMJ project, a Project Engineer will primarily support Superintendents. By participating in this program a Project Engineer gains a 360-degree view of what is required to deliver an exceptional client experience while ensuring EMJ remains financially strong.

Job Responsibilities:
o Field Assignment
· Read, understand, and execute requirements within project specifications
· Review and understand executed subcontract agreements
· Embrace our culture of quality by participating in Preconstruction meetings, as well as conducting 1st Work, In-Progress, and Close Up Inspections
· Review submittals & shop drawings with Superintendents
· Assist in weekly project schedule updates
· Participate in weekly Trade Partner Coordination meetings, and other meetings as needed
· Build strong relationships with trade partners by ensuring they have updated drawings, RFI responses, submittals, and schedules
· Understand and participate in the Client Experience (CX) process
· Identify and mitigate safety and SWPPP issues
· Expedite RFI’s and maintain the RFI log
o Regional Office Assignment
· Assist in bid solicitation, takeoffs and bid scope review
· Conduct subcontractor reference checks
· Expedite Joint Check Agreements, Letters of Credit and Personal Guarantee
· Expedite contract execution and receive insurance certifications
· Schedule and participate in buyout meetings
· Assist in Site Evaluations & Due Diligence trips
· Price value generated ideas
· Execute Cost Management/Control by assisting in both Pay Application and Change Order processes
· Update the jobsite plans and Contract Exhibits
· “Start Strong | Finish Strong” through the project start up and close out process
· Prepare submittal logs and material delivery logs for the field
· Lead an effective OAC meeting
· Create, maintain, and update project schedules
· Prepare and present monthly Project Status Reports (PSR)
· Understand and participate in EMJ’s Client Experience (CX) process
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related area preferred
· Experience in Multifamily, Healthcare, or Commercial construction preferred, but not required
· Strong leadership potential with desire to learn and grow
· Well organized and able to accomplish a variety of tasks in an efficient and timely manner
· Must be goal oriented
· Ability to identify, investigate and quantify onsite issues, with corresponding resolutions and consequences
· Willingness and ability to relocate with assigned jobs
· Night and weekend work may be required
· Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
· Must be able to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods
· Computer knowledge and efficiency, with the ability to learn specific web-based and software applications:
a. Sharepoint
b. Procore
c. Bluebeam
d. Phoenix Scheduling Software
e. MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
· Ability to obtain the following Certificates/ Licenses:
o Required certifications/trainings within first (3) months of employment:
§ Construction OSHA 30-Hour
§ First Aid- CPR & AED
§ New-Hire Safety Orientation – Parts 1 & 2
§ New-Hire Safety Orientation – Site Specific
o Additional certifications/trainings as needed:
§ SWPPP Training
§ Job-specific Safety Training, which may include:
§ Fall Protection
§ Scaffolding
§ Trenching & Excavation
§ Confined Space
